Go to a quiet place in your house or sit in the car for 5 minutes with no one else and no tv or radio. Did you notice you had so many thoughts going on in a minute’s time? Now this time, focus on your breathing, so that each time you breathe in you notice only your breathing, not how hot it is in the car or who’s outside coming up the steps, but just your breathing. Each
time you breathe and a new thought comes in your mind go back to noticing your breathing.
See?!?! Did you notice how many thoughts came and went in as little as 5 mins! Now multiply that by 10 hours a day for 10 days. While sitting with your legs crossed and back straight without moving for 1 hour at a time? Did I mention the morning bell was 4 AM and the first meditation sitting is 4:30 AM?
